Our Veterinarians
Doug Boeckh, DVM
Following graduation from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1984, Dr. Boeckh worked in small animal clinics in St. John's, Newfoundland and Port Hope, Ontario. In 1987, he opened Merivale Cat Hospital - the first clinic catering exclusively to cats in eastern Canada. Four years later, he opened Bytown Cat Hospital. Today, these are the only Ottawa area veterinary hospitals dealing solely with cats.

Doug lives with his family on a hobby farm east of Ottawa, where they breed Angora goats. They also have an ample menagerie that includes cats Pandora and Scharnhorst, Gracie the dog, Bertram the rooster, and 25 goats (space doesn't allow us to list all their names!). In his spare time, Dr. Boeckh enjoys cross country skiing, running, woodworking, and cooking. He also devotes a lot of time to the Terry Fox Foundation.
